Madrid qualify for the final after slaughtering Barcelona
Real Madrid managed to qualify for the Copa del Rey final after beating Barcelona 4-0 in the semifinal second leg at Camp Nou on Thursday (6/4) early morning WIB. This result made Real Madrid 4-1 on aggregate after Barcelona won 1-0 in the semifinal first leg.
Since the beginning of the match Barcelona was actually able to dominate the game. While Real Madrid rely more on counterattacks.
Both teams also had many opportunities. Among them, in the 33rd minute, a speculative Benzema shot was still aimed right at the Barcelona goalkeeper.
Then Real Madrid was only able to break into Barcelona’s goal in the 45+1 minute through Vinicius Junior’s flick. The first round match ended 1-0 in favor of Real Madrid.
At the start of the second half, or to be precise, in the 50th minute, Karim Benzema again listed his name on the scoreboard after successfully scoring from inside the Barcelona penalty box after continuing Luka Modric’s pass. Real Madrid won 2-0 over Barcelona.
In the 52nd minute Barcelona tried to respond by launching sporadic attacks which ended with Alejandro Balde’s shot. But his shot was still blocked by Courtois.
One minute later Barcelona got another chance through Ronald Araujo’s header, but still missed. Two minutes later Araujo again managed to steal the ball from a Real Madrid defender, then fired a shot but missed.
However, in the 57th minute Real Madrid received a penalty after Vinicus was brought down by Franck Kessie. Benzema, who became the executor, successfully carried out his duties well to bring Madrid to a 3-0 lead over Barcelona.
Madrid managed to increase the score to 4-0 through Benzema’s third goal in the 81st minute. Benzema scored after following Vinicius’ pass.
Until the match ended there were no additional goals that were able to be created by both teams. Real Madrid won over Barcelona 4-0 and qualified for the Copa del Rey final.
In the final Real Madrid will meet Osasuna in La Cartuja, Seville, 6 May.
